How to Get Your CDL
Apply online or contact us to schedule a in-person meeting.
Possess a Montana Drivers License
You must have a valid Montana Class D Driver’s License –clear from any outstanding warrants, suspensions or revocations.
Obtain a DOT Physical
Find a certified medical provider on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. Attach your DOT medical card to your application.
Schedule Drug Test
Test must be completed before you begin class. Print and complete the drug test consent form. Schedule your appointment with Chemnet Consortium at (800) 597-7103. $65.00 fee. Take the form with you to the testing center.Results will be reported to Missoula College.
Complete Query Form
Complete the Query Form to allow Chemnet to share your drug test results with Missoula College. Missoula College will forward this form to Chemnet after you submit it.
Obtain Commercial Learner's Permit

Pass Background Check
Students may initiate this process by going to https://universityofmontanamissoulacollege.quickapp.pro/ Your result will be provided to Missoula College by the provider.
Complete Application Forms
Complete CDL Training Application and the ELDT Intake form. (ELDT students just complete the ELDT Intake form)
Payment for Courses
There is possible funding available through the Missoula Job Service to help pay the cost of the CDL tuition. Please contact their office at 406-728-7060 to find out if you qualify. Call Susan Graham at 406-243-7870 to make payment.
